The Olympus DR-2000 hand control microphone requires a firmware update in order to utilize the ‘A’ and ‘B’ buttons with Quikscribe Recorder. This is a fairly simple procedure:
- Plug the USB connection into the PC and wait until the PC recognizes the device.
First, please install the Olympus DirectRec configuration program. After downloading, follow the prompts to install the program. Download the Quikscribe template file QS_DR_2000.drt and save it to your Desktop or a desired folder. 1. Plug the USB connection of the DR-2000 mike into the PC and wait until the PC recognizes the device.
2. Run the Olympus DirectRec Configuration Tool program. An image of the DR-2000 will appear as follows:
3. Select ‘File’, then ‘Import Template’, and select the QS_DR_200.drt template file. 4. At the prompt ‘Do you want to overwrite the settings for each button?” select ‘Yes’. A confirmation message will appear ‘Successfully uploaded settings’.

6. When finished, the display should show the following settings for the A and B buttons:
Then close the program, and also right-click on the program icon in the system tray of the Windows task bar (lower right corner of screen), and select Exit to terminate the program. If performing the configuration on multiple units, it is necessary to close the program completely and restart it for each device.
